Over the last ten years Villach has been firmly committed to securing its position as a technology site.
The tpvTechnologiepark Villach is the Alpine-Adriatic region’s high tech hub. All businesses established there have the same strategic objective: “Teaching, research and development on one site”. The main focus is in the areas of electronics and microelectronics, renewable energy, geoinformation, IT and communications technology and associated suppliers and service providers.
The main pillars of the technology park are the companies that have become established on the site, such as the [micro]electronic cluster – a network formed from a wide variety of businesses, educational institutions and research centres in the field of microelectronics and electronics, and the Gründerzentrum Kärnten GmbH build!.
With the University Of Applied Sciences "Fachhochschule Kärnten" Villach has become internationally recognised as a modern and future orientated further education location.
In the field of Research & Development, new developments have arisen at the non-university research and skills centre Carinthian Tech Research (CTR) and at Micronas Villach Halbleiterentwicklungs GmbH, which are finding practical application in a wide variety of areas.
